OUR STORY

Our Story

Laganvale Farm is a new stage in our family farm business which has been here in Lambeg for seven generations. Traditionally a beef cattle farm, we began growing Christmas trees back in 2004 and are gradually diversifying to become an all year round open farm venue.

OUR HISTORY

The Gilmore family have been farming the land around Ballyskeagh in Lambeg for seven generations. After the death of his father in 2003, only son Ian was determined to continue this family tradition. Taking into account the decline in beef farming, he made the decision to diversify by planting our first Christmas trees. We currently farm approximately 40 hectares still with a focus on beef cattle but now also sell our Christmas trees to the public. In the past 4 years we've added our indoor play area, outdoor activities and our new tearoom.

AND NOW...

PETTING ANIMALS
Children and parents can visit, touch and learn about a variety of farm animals. Our traditional farm animals - Limousin cattle and Kerry-Hill sheep now share the farm with Alpacas, Pygmy goats, Kune Kune pigs, ducks, geese, chickens and rabbits and guinea pigs. During school holidays and weekends, visitors are able to meet our animals as we open our farm paths and the petting barn.
PLAY AREAS
In the upper shed we have superb indoor play facilities to encourage visitors to the farm even on wet days. We also have a small natural outdoor playground with tunnels and felled tree trunks for children to explore.
We've also developed outside and have a large covered sandpit, a go-karting track, pedal tractors and garden games  to entertain different age groups.
From late July to October each year we have our maize maze.
LINEN TEAROOM
Our 'Linen Tearoom' has beautiful views over the farm from indoor and outdoor seating areas offering hot and cold drinks, breakfasts, light lunches, ice cream and traybakes. Everyone is welcome to use the tearoom at Laganvale Farm even if not visiting the other farm attractions.
